AR 15 Pistol Build
After I got a couple of builds under my belt I decided to build an AR Pistol.
If you plan to build an AR Pistol be sure you do your homework as you could run afoul of the ATF
if you do not follow the rules. Here are the basics as I understand them.
- Barrel is less than 16" (mine is 7.5").
- Overall length is less than 26" (mine is 25.5")
- Does not have a butt stock.
- You can't have a vertical foregrip if the total length is less than 26".
- You can't use a lower that has ever been registered as a rifle.
- Pistol braces are legal.
A lower MUST BE SHIPPED TO AN FFL HOLDER. You will have to pay a transfer fee and fill out Form 4473.
Build the Upper Receiver.
Assemble The Gas Tube in the Low Profile Gas Block.
Assemble the Barrel, Barrel Nut and Gas Tube Assembly.
Install the Free Float Quad Rail & Muzzle Brake.
Or Add A Faux Suppressor
Build The Lower.
Put It All Together.
Return To AR15 Platform/Builds
Sig Sauer SB15 Pistol Stabilizing Brace.
ATF Document
Install takes all of 5 mins.
- Remove the foam cover from the buffer tube.
- Install the SB15.
NOTE - I had to heat the brace to get it to relax enough to slip over the buffer tube.
